HYACINTHE is an in-person immersive multi-sensory interactive experience and novel therapeutic modality in the making.
HYACINTHE utilizes custom neurofeedback technology to invite viewers to become conscious co-creators through directly impacting and sculpting elements of a visual experience with their mind. No two experiences are the same.
HYACINTHE seeks to facilitate an increased state of presence and awareness, as well as to encourage the participant to become more conscious and curious about the ways their state of mind has the capacity to impact and shape their experience of reality.
FORWARD:
We are currently seeking partners to host HYACINTHE globally, as well as labs, residencies, funding sources to support the development and expansion of the profound potential demonstrated in the first phase of the project as we forge ahead.
THE PROCESS:
After booking a one-hour time-slot, participants are greeted in person by a facilitator. Once outftted with a brainwave sensing headband and noise-canceling headphones, participants are given a brief set of instructions.
The primary portion of HYACINTHE lasts roughly 30 minutes, during which participants impact and modify the visual experience in real-time through alpha brainwave modulations in their prefrontal cortex.
Following the interactive visual experience, participants are invited to process and integrate their experience with the trained facilitator, as well as offered the opportunity to view and discuss a graph elucidating the technical aspects of the process.
BACKGROUND:
HYACINTHE was produced during a year of intensive research, filming, and bio-technological development. The footage was shot in five sacred locations; The island of Ikaria, Greece; Samothrace in the northern Aegean Sea; Sacred Valley, Peru; Ucayali River in the Amazonian rainforest of eastern Peru, and The Atacama Desert, Chile. Each location is presented as a chapter within the project, corresponding to custom visual filters.
HYACINTHE premiered as a solo full-room installation at Stockholm’s SKF Konstnärshuset Gallery in early 2023, with sold out pop-up presentations following at Neo-Metabolism in Amsterdam, Espace Nonono in Paris, The Space in Charleston, and the Museum of Sensory & Movement Experiences in Santa Barbara in 2024.
